The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health: Reversing the neglect of children and adolescents affected by tuberculosis
This comment article in The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health journal co-authored by MSF and partner organisations highlights the gaps in preventing, diagnosing, and treating tuberculosis (TB) in children and adolescents.
These gaps persist due to the lack of diagnostic tools adapted to children’s needs, and the insufficient integration of TB care into primary child health programmes and services. Political will, financial investments and accountability are necessary to close these gaps. The United Nations High Level Meeting on TB in September 2023 offers countries the opportunity to commit to taking these steps to reverse the historic neglect of TB in children and adolescents and prevent unnecessary deaths.
