Open letter and response regarding the European Union’s position on the COVID-19 TRIPS waiver proposal at WTO

Since October 2020, MSF has reached out to governments calling for support of the landmark proposal for a waiver of certain intellectual property provisions under the TRIPS agreement during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have received written feedback from the European Commission expressing its position of not supporting the proposal. MSF later joined more than 100 civil society organizations in November, calling on European Parliament to support the proposal, as well as responding to some of the positions of the European Commission’s response.
